The Genesis of
Sweet Home High Sierra
Sweet Home High Sierra started as an idea for outfitting a dream home. It began as a surface pattern collection built around mountain life with a coastal heart. Then one design rerouted everything. The Squaw Valley poster began as a reaction to the resort’s rebrand and ended up defining the studio’s tone. Unapologetic. Brash. More than a little turnt. Unwilling to sand off rough edges for anyone’s delicate feelings. What was meant to be one part of a future home decor line revealed itself as a standalone brand with an actual backbone.
Now the studio creates art and home pieces with intention, place, and witty bite. The work is made for people with a sense of humor and a sense of continuity. People who value tradition over trend cycles. People who are not scanning the world for reasons to be offended. Everything here is created for real homes and real character and for those who appreciate pieces that hold up over time, in taste, in meaning, and in spirit.
The studio’s earliest collections are grounded in the mountains and the American West. These are places where grit, quiet, humor, and altitude shape daily life. But the vision has always been broader. Sweet Home High Sierra was built by a designer shaped as much by saltwater and Southern California sun as by granite ridgelines and winter storms. Future collections will move between these influences and explore coast, desert, high country, and everything in between.
Every design begins with a sense of place and a clear point of view. Clean typography, thoughtful composition, and an instinct for story guide the work. Nothing is made to chase trends or mimic nostalgia. Each piece is created to feel at home in real homes. These are spaces built with intention, curiosity, and taste.
Founded by veteran designer and photographer Mindee Dziuba, the studio draws from decades in visual identity, typography, photography and place driven design.
